about me
Chrystal Longe
Hi there! I’m Chrystal, a photographer based in the Connecticut River Valley of New Hampshire and Vermont. I work with both film and digital formats. I like to consider my work versatile, capturing quiet moments in the mountains, architecture along bustling city streets, desolate stretches of land in the desert, and beloved pets and wildlife. A goal of mine this year is to add more people into my portfolio - portraits, engagement and wedding sessions, etc.
I grew up surrounded by family members who always had a camera at the ready, and once I figured out how to operate one, someone’s camera typically ended up in my hands. If we weren’t taking photos, we were looking through boxes of photographs, Polaroids, and color-positive slides that my grandfather took during his travels overseas and on the road. When I was 9, I got my first camera for Christmas - a Nikon Coolpix L16. It was your typical digicam, but it sparked a love I’d never turn back from. A few years later, I inherited my Nikon D50 kit from my father, which is the camera I learned traditional techniques with. I use it more than any other camera I own to this day. It has traveled with me on several cross-country trips, and 40+ states over the last 12 years.
If I don’t have a camera in hand, you can find me with a painting with watercolors or acrylics, in the river looking for new rocks to put in my rock tumbler, or making jewelry.
